Everything Glimmerglass

Written on SEPT. 22, 2025

What Is Glimmerglass?
In 1841, James Fenimore Cooper wrote The Deerslayer and gave Otsego Lake a nickname: Glimmerglass. He was describing how still and reflective the lake looked in the early morning, like a sheet of shining glass.
Over time, the name stuck. Today, it’s attached to three very different places near Cooperstown. Together, they give you a deeper view of the area that many visitors miss.

Cooperstown Weather:
It Doesn’t Get More Inconsistent Than This

Written on AUG.12, 2025

Don’t bother looking at the weather app. Seriously. The weather in Cooperstown changes by the day. Actually, it changes by the minute. You’re just as likely to get a sunburn as you are to get hit with a surprise drizzle. At some point during the day, it’s going to be overcast. Every other day? Drizzle. That’s just how it goes here. But no matter what’s falling from the sky, the scenery stays gorgeous.
